The Beastmaster was released on Aug 20, 1982. If you opened the movie section of the newspaper that weekend, this is the bad ass, awesome image that greeted you.
How could you NOT want to go see that movie? Am I right?
It took nearly 10 years, but The Beastmaster got a sequel. The sequel, Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time, was released to theaters on Aug 30, 1991. Here are two different versions of Beastmaster 2‘s newspaper ads from the day it was released.
There was one more sequel made in 1996. However it was made-for-TV and not released into theaters. It was called Beastmaster 3: The Eye of Braxus.
The final fight in 3 has one of the worst guy in a rubber suit monsters ever. It looks like a Dinosaurs reject.
I’m afraid to watch it, but I’m also weirdly intrigued…
I really need to buy a poster reprint of the first Beastmaster. Is one that truly deserves to be displayed.
Ah, but which one? I’m partial to the Japanese one (image from the main post about the Beastmaster episode), but there’s also the one above and a similar one with the Eye Ring encircling everyone (cover to the special edition DVD…)
That’s the one, with the eye ring. unless you know the movie, that almost gets glanced over. Japanese one is cool tho too.
Beastmaster 2 was quite a let down… I love time travel scenarios, but this didn’t really work for me.
Yeah, I always wondered if they were scared by Willow’s box office, yet still wanted to exploit the Beastmaster franchise, thus bringing him into modern day…?
