This month on the Cult Film Club, hosts Paxton, Jaime and Shawn gear up for a fuel-injected podcast crossover of post-apocalyptic proportions as they welcome the Nerd Lunch crew into the clubhouse to talk about all three films in the original Mad Max trilogy!
We stripped down the extras a bit to make way for an extended conversation on this triple feature packed into a dense yet fun conversation where we touch on the actors, the fan theories that connect the films, the amazing gonzo special effects and character designs, as well as the scores and a little bit of lead up to the recent Mad Max Fury Road.
This episode is Part 1 of a crossover that continues in Part 2, episode 196 of the Nerd Lunch podcast where we all reconvened to discuss Mad Max Fury Road. If you dig the Cult Film Club and you haven’t listened to Nerd Lunch, this is the perfect time to check out their show. Paxton is also a regular host of Nerd Lunch where they tackle all sorts of geek pop culture topics.

I was watching Innerspace about 2 weeks on Midday TV and I noticed Vernon Wells playing an amazing Badass Mr. Igoe as a Goon for hire. He has a Robotic hand with attachments including a gun, power drill, corkscrew and a lady pleaser, as shown in this scene from 0.15 to 0.22.

Yup! My Wells trilogy is Road Warrior, Commando, and Innerspace for sure!
Wait, I remember that guy. THAT was Vernon Wells?!
Right?! He’s like a chameleon, but a chameleon that always kinda looks like Freddie Mercury on steroids…
He also gets Nano sized and put inside Martin Short`s character and he attempts to hunt down the other pod like a Boss, even though it is his first ever time being shrunk and injected in to a human being.
He was pretty badass in that movie…
Yes it is Wez. I think it is an underrated performance. He plays it very cool, I even looked up the Targa brand sunglasses he was wearing.
Yeah, I love how tight and silent he plays it. Super menacing. Doesn’t get the crazy eyes until he gets shrunk down and attacks Quaid…
I almost forgot to mention the Music video for `California Love` by 2 Pac Featuring Dr.Dre from 1996. Very Mad Max 3.
