In Episode 6 of the Cult Film Club, hosts Paxton, Jaime and Shawn will be will be tackling the 1982 Bob Rosenthal teen sex comedy Zapped! Starring the future Charles in Charge power couple Scott Baio and Willie Ames, the film focuses on a nerdy senior named Barney who accidentally unlocks the power of telekinesis after an explosion in the school lab. What’s a boy to do with his new-found power? Well, undress the student body of course. For science. The flick also features the busty Heather Thomas, the Fact’s of Life’s Felice Schachter, and one of the best dream sequences in modern history involving Scatman Crothers, Albert Einstein and some flying salami!
In the episode we discuss the idea of parody, satire, and homage, turning a horror film into a teen sex comedy, and how disconcerting telekinetic date rape can be . We take a closer look at some of the actors in our regular segment, Hey Do I Know That Guy, as well as playing Hollywood moguls in a segment we like to call It’s Time For a Recast!

This is a SHOCKING episode!
*Concentrating hard on my monitor*
I’m trying to bust the sweaters of all the ladies listening to the show……
I was going through some of my stored collections a few weeks ago after a move and found an early 80s Australian newspaper, it has a large cinema advert for the movie Zapped in it. I will try and dig it out and scan it after I get back from my vacation.
That would be too rad!
Yes, I’d love to see it!
Sweet!
Definitely a classic…anyone seen the sequel Zapped Again? LOL
I believe Pax braved Zapped Again, and barely lived to tell the tale…
Yeah, I’ve seen Zapped Again a few times. It’s not great. I find some mild enjoyment in it due to loyalty to the brand. But I can’t really recommend it.
I have fun listening on this podcast. I have seen this film and have lots of laugh.
